Year 5 blog:
Year 5 had a fantastic time during their swimming sessions last week! It was lovely to see all of the children getting involved and enjoying themselves in the pool. Whether they were already confident swimmers or still finding their feet in the water, everyone made great progress.
The children practised a range of strokes, including front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke, while also working on their breathing, floating and treading water.
As well as developing their swimming skills, the children learnt some really important water safety skills. They learnt about the different beach flags, what they mean and why it is important to understand them when swimming at the beach. One of the highlights was swimming in our clothes! This gave the children the opportunity to experience what it might feel like to unexpectedly enter the water fully clothed and practise how to keep themselves safe.
It was brilliant to see the children encouraging one another, challenging themselves and growing in confidence throughout the sessions. Well done, Year 5! You certainly made a splash!
