Pupil Chaplains:

Our Pupil Chaplains have been busy putting their leadership skills and faith into action by carrying out a parent survey about Religious Education and faith within our school.

Under careful supervision from Mrs Austin, the children took responsibility for approaching parents and carers, asking questions and listening carefully to their views. This gave our Chaplains an important opportunity to hear first-hand what families think about RE, faith and the Catholic life of our school.

It was also a fantastic learning experience for the children themselves. Afterwards, the Pupil Chaplains reflected that at first they had felt nervous about approaching and speaking to adults they did not know. However, as the conversations continued, their confidence quickly grew.

The feedback they received was incredibly positive and thoughtful. One parent highlighted the importance of good communication between school and home, explaining that they:

"Know everything from emails and through conversations with my daughter.”

Another reflected on how faith is shared with families beyond the school day:

“It’s beautiful and very enlightening, especially with the children and the regular Wednesday Word.”

Parents also spoke passionately about the importance of RE in helping children develop their own understanding of faith and religion:

"It is an important aspect of a child's education as it gives them the right tools to make informed decisions about faith and religion.”

It was particularly lovely to hear about the enthusiasm our children bring home from their RE lessons:

“My son enjoys attending RE. He loves talking about Jesus. I think it's important for all children.”

Parents also valued the opportunities children have to learn about and understand other faiths, with one parent commenting:

“That it encompasses all religions opening our children's view to other religions.”

For our Pupil Chaplains, however, gathering the information is only the beginning. They will now spend time reflecting on what parents have told them, identifying key themes and thinking carefully about how they can respond by adapting their Pupil Chaplaincy Action Plan for Autumn 2.

We are incredibly proud of our Pupil Chaplains.

This was pupil leadership in action: listening, reflecting and using what they have learned to make a positive difference to the faith life of our school community.
