E-Cadets Leading the Way:
Staying Safe and Smart Online
Our eCadets have been working incredibly hard since Safer Internet Day to help everyone understand how to stay safe in an ever-changing digital world. These pupils have taken on an important role in raising awareness about how we use technology—especially when it comes to artificial intelligence (AI), spotting real versus fake information, and protecting our wellbeing online. Since safer internet day, it has been wonderful to see how this has inspired children across the school to create their own information leaflets to share their new found knowledge with others in our community.
]With the growing use of AI tools, the E-Cadets have been learning how information online isn’t always what it seems. They have been exploring ways to tell the difference between real and fake content, such as checking reliable sources, looking closely at images, and questioning whether something feels trustworthy. They understand that learning these skills is essential for staying safe online and making smart choices. As part of their work, the students are creating informative leaflets to share with other pupils across the school. These leaflets will help everyone understand how to think critically about what they see online and how to stay safe when using digital devices - so watch this space for a digital information video coming soon!
The E-Cadets have also been gathering information about how much time we spend on electronic devices. They are exploring how screen time can affect our mental health and wellbeing, including sleep, mood, and physical activity. By looking at this data, they hope to encourage everyone to find a healthy balance between time online and offline. Importantly, the E-cadets are linking all of this work to online safety. They are helping others understand that staying safe online is not just about protecting personal information, but also about looking after our mental health and making positive choices. Their message is clear: being safe online means being informed, balanced, and responsible.
We are very proud of our E-Cadets for taking the lead on such an important topic. Their work is helping to make our school a safer, smarter, and a more mindful place for everyone.
