Waddle a Surprise! :
Waddle a Surprise! Our newest classmates arrived.
There was a whole lot of quacking going on in the Year 2 hallway last half term! We received an exciting delivery from Incredible Eggs and the anticipation was high as we waited for our special guests to make their grand entrance into the world. After days of quiet observation and careful temperature checks, the wait was finally over when the shells began to crack and out popped several fluffy, yellow ducklings.
It is safe to say that duckling fever officially took over the whole school, especially in Year 2. The children were incredible caretakers by providing the ducklings with constant attention and ensuring they stayed warm and well-fed during their first days. The absolute highlight of the week was watching the ducklings take their very first swim. Seeing them instinctively paddle their tiny feet in the water brought cheers from everyone in the room and was a memory we won't soon forget.
The visit was more than just fun, it provided a wonderful, hands-on opportunity for our Year 2 students to see their science lessons in action. By observing the ducklings, the children could explore the essential link to our curriculum topics on life cycles, different habitats and exactly what animals need to survive. While the ducklings won't stay small forever, the lessons learned from our feathered friends will definitely stick around.
