Pentecost Mass:
Pentecost Mass – A Joyful Celebration of the Holy Spirit
This week, our school community gathered together with Father Benjamin to celebrate a truly special occasion – the Feast of Pentecost. It was a beautiful and meaningful time of prayer, reflection, and celebration as we marked the coming of the Holy Spirit.
Before the celebration, the children created vibrant ‘tongues of fire’ flame headbands to wear to the Mass. These symbolised the moment in the Pentecost story when the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples like tongues of fire – a powerful reminder of God’s presence and the gift of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
Our Year 6 pupils led with confidence and reverence, reading the First Reading and Psalm with clarity and expression. Furthermore, in a moving tribute to the story of Pentecost, where the disciples were able to speak in many languages to spread the Good News, several children from Key Stage 2 volunteered to read a bidding prayer in their home languages. It was a beautiful moment that reflected the diversity of our school community and the universal message of God's love.
During the offertory, each class brought forward a special offering. Some children had written heartfelt prayers for peace on paper doves, Others focused on the Fruits of the Spirit, sharing how they could live out love, joy, kindness, and patience in their daily lives.
Together, we raised our voices in joyful praise, filling the hall with beautiful singing that truly lifted our hearts.
Our Pentecost Mass was a wonderful reminder of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the power of unity, peace, and love. Thank you to everyone who contributed and helped make the celebration so special.
