Year 6 blog:
Our last full day in Devon was nothing short of magical – a perfect blend of sunshine, sea air, and smiles all around! From the moment the day began, it was clear this would be another fantastic day to remember!
The morning kicked off with a delicious continental breakfast. The smell of warm pancakes and fresh pastries drifted through the dining hall, waking even the sleepiest of children with a grin. With tummies full and energy high, we set off for our morning adventures.
The group split into two exciting activities. Some embarked on the seashore trail, basking in the sunshine and enjoying breathtaking views as they wandered along the coast. Others took to the water, kayaking along the river - paddling peacefully through calm waters and mastering their stroke with every glide.
After working up a healthy appetite, we regrouped for lunch on the field, picnicking in the cool shade. There were plenty of stories shared and laughter heard as everyone relaxed and recharged for the afternoon ahead.
Then it was time for even more fun. Those who hadn't done the trail in the morning got their turn: exploring rock pools, holding crabs, and spotting tiny shrimps hiding in the shallows. Meanwhile, the budding surfers among us grabbed their boards and hit the waves for an exhilarating surfing session. It was a fantastic adventure: from jumping the waves and cheering on friends, to many even managing to stand up on their boards.
As the sun began to dip, we returned to base for a barbecue feast - burgers, hot dogs, roasted veggies, and of course, jam donuts to follow! But the day wasn’t over just yet…
The evening brought wide games, and the competition was fierce. The children were fast, focused, and strategic - but it was the teachers who might have been the most competitive of all! Laughter echoed across the field as teams raced, hid, and hunted for victory.
Finally, after a long and exciting day, it was time to wind down with some hot chocolate under the stars. Cozy, content, and just a little bit sleepy, everyone made their way to bed for our final sleep.
It was more than just a day of fun — it was a day of facing fears, encouraging friends, and making memories. Memories we reflected upon and cherished as we sipped our hot chocolate.
