Year 2 blog:

Year 2 had their first school trip!

It wasn’t an ordinary day in the classroom! No! It was the day they went to Marwell Zoo, a place swarming with wonders and adventures waiting to be discovered.

The bus journey was filled with laughter and curiosity, each child buzzing with questions about the animals they could soon encounter.

When we arrived, their excitement reached new heights, as they got off of the bus and went to the ticket office, they could see on the map, the range of animals of all shapes and sizes.

Year two began their exploration first seeing the honking penguins, diving into the pool and waddling around their rocks. Then it was on to the majestic giraffes gracefully munching on leaves. We later saw the playful meerkats who were darting in and out of their burrows.

Then it was on to the Tropical house, a lush oasis filled with exotic plants and creatures from distant lands. The children prepared for the wave of warmth they were about to feel. Coats off and they were eager to find the sloth.

Whilst inside the tropical house, Year 2 had a special talk with a knowledgeable lady who worked closely with the animals. The children gathered around as she shared fascinating facts about the inhabitants of the tropical house, from the slow moving sloth to the colourful birds and the hard shelled tortoise.

The children then stopped for lunch, but after lunch the adventures continued, as they saw the hippos, the new arrival which was the snow leopard and even some cheeky monkeys.

The children and teachers had a wonderful day and since have been writing some phenomenal recounts from their day at Marwell zoo.
