Mass:
Celebrating the Feast of the Nativity of St John the Baptist
This week, our school community gathered together in a spirit of faith and celebration to mark the feast of the Nativity of St John the Baptist. This special Mass offered us a chance to reflect on the life of St John—the one who prepared the way for Jesus and shone a light on His coming.
This was an especially meaningful celebration for the children in St John House, as the Mass was dedicated in their honour. Pupils from the house took on key roles during the liturgy: selected children read the Scripture readings with clarity and confidence and led us all in thoughtful bidding prayers.
During the offertory, representatives from St John House brought forward symbolic prayers that reflected the life and mission of St John. These focused on the powerful imagery of light, the desert, and the path—symbols that reminded us of St John's unique role in pointing others to Christ and preparing hearts to receive Him.
At the end of Mass, the children in St John House were invited to stand. In a touching and memorable moment, Father Benjamin offered them a special blessing, encouraging them to follow in the footsteps of their house saint by being voices of hope, light, and truth in the world.
