Year 1 blog:

Year 1 have had a swashbuckling half term! In our writing unit, we have delved into the stormy seas of pirates and written our very own character descriptions about what pirates look like! We have used our fantastic adjectives to describe them. As well as this, we know how much pirates love their treasure so we made our very own instructions to help them find their precious jewels!

In Maths, we have been learning to create our own number sentences using the addition and equals symbols! We have been using the part, part, whole models to help us do this. We even made our own catchy song to remind us that the part and the part equals the whole!

Science has been a sense sensation as we have been learning about our senses! We even had the opportunity to taste some foods such as lemon and dark chocolate. After tasting these foods, we found the lemon sour and the dark chocolate bitter. It was so much fun and really helped us with our learning!

In Art, we have been creating animal prints using oil pastels. pencils and chalk. We used many techniques such as smudging, curved lines, dots and straight lines to create the textures for our chosen animal print. We really enjoyed creating our own collage of animal prints!

Year 1 have worked so hard this half term and have settled in so wonderfully!
