Level 4 RHS Gardening Award!
Holy Family is delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Level 4 RHS Gardening Award! This award recognises all that our pupils do to look after our wonderful school grounds.
This level of the award focuses on how we develop our gardens and grounds to promote biodiversity. We do this by having a wide array of pollinator friendly plants and by the numerous bug hotels and dead hedges we have created to support wildlife.
We have also worked really hard to promote a love of gardening beyond our school by gathering seeds from our gardens and giving them out to every child at our school last term. It has been wonderful to see that it has encouraged and enthused so many of our pupils to grow their own tomato plants or sunflowers at home.
Finally, this award recognises that we use our school grounds to help us learn! From Year 3 science where we design planting patches, to Reception pupils planning, designing and creating mini bug hotels, our gardens help us to learn and understand more about the world around us.
A big thank you to the Gardening club and Mrs Nailor for working hard every week to help us achieve this award. Look out for more updates from Gardening club as we work towards Level 5!
