We are having a PAPtastic time inviting our adults in to read with us in the classroom.

Throughout the year, we have regularly invited our adults into the classroom to practise reading with us. This unique opportunity offered through the Pip and Pap Workshops gives parents and families time to come into the classroom and watch a short reading input by the teacher. The adults are then able to read with their children with opportunities to speak with the teacher about any positive outcomes or feedback regarding their child's reading.

Our book this week was 'A Stuck Duck'. During our Pip and Pap Workshops, we focus on showing our adults the sounds we are working on and identifying the Earth Words we will see throughout the book. All of this information is handily placed at the front of the Pip and Pap books and can be accessed at home when reading. Our big focus has been spotting familiar words. As we have progressed through the year, our blending has improved and as such, it is time to start blending some words in our head rather than orally. Before reading a page we are checking to see if we recognise any words. When reading, we are ensuring to blend those words in our head. This improves our fluency and comprehension as we do not need to continue rewinding our brains to the beginning of the sentence.

We cannot wait to see our adults back in again for the next Pip and Pap Workshop.
