Year 3 blog:

King Tutankhamun’s tomb comes to life!

On Tuesday, Year 3 stepped back in time to explore a recreation of King Tutankhamun's tomb in their classroom! Golden artefacts glittered, messages were hidden in mysterious hieroglyphics and ancient treasures surrounded the children as they explored every corner. Their favourite items were the canopic jars, the Egyptian art and the model of Tutankhamun’s famous head. They said they liked exploring the artefacts because “I have never seen an Ancient Egyptian artefact before and it was fantastic!” (Kemi).

The excitement reached new heights when archaeologist Howard Carter himself arrived to guide the class through the tomb. They were utterly shocked saying “It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” (Abigail). He shared the incredible story of discovering Tutankhamun's resting place and even revealed a stunning replica of the King’s golden sarcophagus. One child said “It was the most amazing moment ever because we got to see what the pharaoh’s coffin looked like and learn about Ancient Egyptian Kings”. (Kupa).

The children asked thoughtful questions and eagerly examined the artefacts, unlocking the mysteries of ancient Egypt. By the end of the day, they weren't just learners — they were true historians, ready to uncover history’s secrets!
