Parent Workshop:
Our Year 6 teachers, Mrs Harley and Mrs Austin, recently hosted a 'Connecting with Literature' parent workshop, designed to support families to encourage a love of reading and help them understand the purpose of this strand within our reading curriculum.
The workshop brought parents and guardians together to explore practical strategies for engaging young readers and making literature an exciting part of everyday life. Parents were introduced to books from various cultures, genres, and perspectives to inspire children to embrace the joy of discovering new worlds. We discussed these and explored how a book's themes (such as bravery and determination) can link to the children's own lives or the wider world.
We’re so grateful for the enthusiasm and participation of our school community—it’s clear that our families are as passionate about literacy as we are!
