Year 6 blog:

The children in Year 6 have had a fantastic start to the half term and have been working incredibly hard to meet their educational targets and learn an amazing amount along the way. Their current writing unit, based on designing a theme park, was met with great enthusiasm  by the staff and children!

We began the unit by delving into the wonderful world of language, syntax and grammar by deconstructing examples and analysing their effect. We applied this knowledge in our
writing when we wrote to persuade through a leaflet and a negative review. We also worked on the composition and effect of our overall text by thinking thoughtfully about the purpose of our writing and the effect we wanted to have on the reader. Through this we have understood how authorial control is important to write in a precise and entertaining way. We followed the partnership-wide writing journey of ‘share and collaborate’, ‘plan and prepare’, ‘writing time’, ‘edit and polish’ and finally ‘publish’.
