Stations of the Cross:

This week Years 4, 5 and 6 came together in the hall, with Father Benjamin, to take part in a special liturgy on the Stations of the Cross. The space was set out in a circle, with a cross placed in the centre, helping everyone to focus and take part quietly and respectfully. Each class prepared and presented two stations. As the story of Jesus’ journey to the cross was read aloud, groups also shared freeze frames they had created beforehand. These helped to bring each moment to life so that we could reflect on how it would have felt at the time.

Throughout the reflection, there was a calm and thoughtful atmosphere. Gentle music played in the background while we listened, watched and reflected. After each station, there was a short prayer or moment to think. These reflections helped us to connect the story to our own lives, especially when thinking about kindness, courage and helping others. Some parts of the story were quite emotional, such as when Jesus met his mother, or when he fell under the weight of the cross. Other moments reminded us about the importance of not giving up and supporting people who are struggling, just like Simon helped Jesus carry the cross. The final stations were very quiet and reflective, especially when we heard about Jesus’ death and when he was laid in the tomb. It gave everyone time to pause and think. We ended the gathering with a prayer about hope. Although this part of Jesus's story is sad, it also reminds us that love is stronger than anything, and that even in difficult times, we are not alone. Through this reflection, we have grown closer to Jesus and prepared for the joy of His resurrection at Easter.
