Year 6 blog:
To commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day, Year 6 recapped their World War 2 learning from Autumn term. Through our whole school assembly led by the children, we reflected deeply as a year group the importance of this day as it is known in history as the turning point in WW2. In class, we explored the key, historical facts and analysed the impact it had on the people and places involved in D-Day as well as the Battle of Normandy. To prove our understanding, we followed up and explored the question: "What are the events that contributed to the success of D-Day?". With confidence, the children pulled together their prior knowledge as well as new knowledge around D-day to be able to respond thoughtfully. It was wonderful to see the children talk so passionately about history and bringing everything that occurred to life and linking it to their British values.
