Year 6 blog:
Today has been another fantastic day packed with adventure, laughter and lots of children stepping outside their comfort zones.
Our morning began with one group heading straight to the water for an exciting rafting session. After learning the correct paddling techniques and practising how to work together as a crew, it was time to put those skills to the test. The children took on a series of fun challenges, from spinning the raft in circles and balancing carefully to avoid falling in, to launching themselves off an upturned raft with spectacular belly slides into the water! Of course, no rafting session would be complete without a few friendly water battles and there was plenty of splashing between the teams.
While the rafters were making a splash, the second group were aiming high on the high ropes course. Many children faced nerves as they climbed higher than they ever had before, but with determination and encouragement from their friends they achieved things they didn't think were possible. Some even found themselves hanging upside down with huge grins on their faces!
After enjoying a well-earned lunch, the groups swapped activities. The afternoon high ropes session was just as impressive, with children continuing to challenge themselves, support one another and celebrate every success. There were plenty of laughs too, with some showing off their dance moves at the top of the course before taking the leap to hit the target as they jumped down. Meanwhile, the kayaking group learnt how to control their boats, improve their paddling technique and navigate the water with growing confidence.
We're now looking forward to another delicious dinner before gathering around the campfire this evening. The children can't wait to toast marshmallows, learn how to safely build and light a fire and spend time together sharing stories from another unforgettable day.
