Ash Wednesday Liturgy:

Ash Wednesday Liturgy: A Reflective Start to Lent

Recently, our school community gathered for a special Ash Wednesday Liturgy to mark the beginning of the season of Lent. Led by Father Benjamin, the service was a beautiful opportunity for reflection, prayer, and commitment as we journey towards Easter.

The liturgy was enriched by the participation of our Year 3, 4, 5, and 6 readers, who shared scripture readings and prayers with great reverence and confidence. Their contributions helped us to focus on the significance of Ash Wednesday as a time for repentance and renewal.

During the service, Father Benjamin spoke about the importance of Lent as a season of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. He reminded us that the ashes we received on our foreheads are a sign of humility and a call to turn our hearts towards God. As the ashes were placed on each person, we shared the words: "Repent, and believe in the Gospel."

The liturgy provided a peaceful and reflective atmosphere, allowing both pupils and staff to consider how they can make positive changes in their lives over the next 40 days. Whether through acts of kindness, spending more time in prayer, or making small sacrifices, we are all encouraged to embrace this season with open hearts.
