Year R blog:

During our final term in Year R, we are spending lots of time securing the knowledge we have gained and gathered during the year. In Phonics and Writing, many of us are applying our knowledge of the Pink Phase. Then, we are branching into the Green Phase and how we can use alternative sounds. We are spending time thinking about our non-negotiable - capital letters, full stops and finger spaces. We are becoming really good at spotting where we have or haven't used these ourselves!

In Maths, we are practising our operation signs - adding, subtracting and dividing. We have been practising using practical resources alongside tens frames, bar models and part part wholes to successfully write number sentences. We have also learnt how to use the clock and estimate. This has been incredibly fun as we have been able to make the most of the lovely weather. We have drawn clocks with chalk in our Year R garden as well as estimating within our brand new mud kitchen, water trays and sand pit.

We have had so many firsts within the final part of our year in EYFS. We had our first Sports Day which we absolutely loved. It was so much fun having all our friends and families come to watch how our physical development has grown over the last year. We really enjoyed watching the older children be successful in all of their running races. We watched our first set of caterpillars turn into butterflies before releasing them as a family together. We have had visitors in to see us such as dentists who taught us how to brush our teeth properly. We have continued with our Pip and Pap workshops which has meant spending more time with our parents during school time.

We look forward to our final half term in Year R before spreading our butterfly wings into Year 1!
