Year 6 blog:
This morning, after another hearty breakfast, some of the group went off to do a coastal walk. They enjoyed hunting for sea glass, making sand art and hunting in the rock pools by the lifeboat station at Appledore. They especially enjoyed seeing the new Shannon class lifeboat being taken out of the water and into the boathouse by the tractor.
Meanwhile the rest of the crew had donned their helmets and buoyancy aids ready for some kayaking. After moving the kayaks ready to set off, they were quite hot so cooled off in the river! They learned how to work as a team and complete challenges sometimes falling in! Eventually it was time to drag the kayaks back up to the minibuses and return to Skern for lunch.
After seeing who won the “Room Tidy” competition we loaded the suitcases and gratefully boarded the buses to avoid the heat for the long drive home, reflecting on fun activities, growing confidence and increasing independence. All the staff are so proud of the children and their willingness to face fears and gain new skills this week.
