Poetry:

Celebrating Creativity Through Poetry

In November, our Reading Ambassadors launched a Poetry Slam, challenging children across the school to find, read, and perform poems within their classes. Performances were judged by teachers and Reading Ambassadors, with winners selected to represent their classes in the Year Group rounds.

Although the children had limited time to prepare, they rose impressively to the challenge. Many practised independently, and some even chose to write and perform their own original poems in their own time. There was a real buzz around school as excitement built.

During the performances, we were blown away by the creativity and confidence on display. Freed from the usual constraints of writing expectations, children were able to select their own topic and express themselves fully.

The performances that followed were inspiring, entertaining, and a wonderful celebration of poetry. Here is a compilation of just some of the brilliant moments from the Poetry Slam.
