Year 3 blog:
What a fantastic start to the year Year 3 have made! They have settled into their new routines brilliantly and have already shown us what it means to be Ready, Respectful and Safe. We are incredibly proud of the way they have approached their learning, supported one another and embraced every new challenge with enthusiasm and curiosity.
In Maths, we have been busy recapping and consolidating our knowledge of place value. The children have worked hard to develop their understanding of numbers, recognising the value of each digit and using this knowledge confidently. We have now begun to apply this understanding to addition and subtraction, exploring different methods and thinking carefully about how we can solve problems accurately and efficiently. It has been wonderful to see the children explaining their mathematical thinking and becoming increasingly confident mathematicians.
Our English learning has been full of imagination and creativity as we have immersed ourselves in the wonderful world of Roald Dahl. We started with Fantastic Mr Fox, where we explored characters, vocabulary and the mischievous world created by Dahl. We have now moved on to The Twits, using the text to inspire our own writing. The children have been using their imaginations to create detailed character profiles and are now developing their own narratives based around a devious plan. We have loved seeing their creative ideas come to life and watching them experiment with ambitious vocabulary and description.
In Science, we have been learning about the human body and thinking about what it means to keep ourselves healthy. We have been exploring the importance of making healthy choices and understanding how different parts of our bodies work together. The children have been asking thoughtful questions and showing a real interest in discovering more about ourselves and how our bodies work.
It has already been a busy and exciting few weeks in Year 3, and there is so much more to come! From becoming confident mathematicians and creative writers to developing our scientific and global citizenship skills, the children are embracing every opportunity to learn. Most importantly, they are showing us every day what it means to show God in our hearts, Love in our words and Family in our actions. We couldn't be prouder of the brilliant start they have made!
