Year 3 blog:

This half term the children have been working incredibly hard in all subjects. We have been thinking like a devious character and plotting revenge, exploring the UKs national parks and digging deeper into the human body.

Mr Twit Gets Revenge

Our current writing topic is based on The Twits by Roald Dahl. The children have been reading the book and getting to know the despicable

characters. To get our minds buzzing with nasty tricks, we visited the trick shop. Here the children saw snakes disguised as presents, red paint in shampoo and many, many more. This got our imaginations going and we planned our own revenge for Mr Twit to play on his evil wife.

The UK’s National Parks

In Geography, we have been deepening our knowledge on the UK, including its mountains and national parks. The children have particularly enjoyed looking at the biggest (The Cairngorms) and oldest (the Peak District) national parks. We learnt all about the importance of these beautiful spaces and thought hard about how they protect our planet. The children linked this to being an architect of a better world and being a steward of God’s creation. We decided it is important to keep these spaces for the future so many more can enjoy them.

The Human Body

In Science, we have been learning all about the human body. We started by looking at the bones and their purpose in the body. We created our own skeletons with masking tape and labeled the important bones. We then thought about muscles and joints and how they help us to move and grow. We have now moved on to looking at nutrition and how we can keep our bodies happy and healthy. We have learnt about the 5 main food groups and how we can eat a balanced diet.
