Year R blog:

This half term, Year R have been exploring superheroes! The children absolutely loved immersing themselves in this current topic by spending a day dressed up as their favourite heroes, which ranged from Marvel characters to real life superheroes, such as doctors. The children were able to role play as these superheroes and think about what a good superhero would do to care for our common home. They used their experience to create some incredible writing outcomes, showcasing their superpowers. Most amazingly, the children were all able to write CVC words which we think is a superpower in itself!

During our Art lessons, the children also thought about how we can be superheros in our everyday life. Considering the Global Goals initiative, we linked our collaging unit to protecting our planet. Instead of using man made materials, we used natural resources to create a superhero cape.

It has been a joy to see the children feel immersed into a topic and link it to their child initiated learning. They have been using the Physical Development area to create a superhero bootcamp. Practising their gross motor skills so they are ready to save the day!
