Year 6 blog:
Into University Week: Exploring the Future Together!
What an exciting week 6H had during Into University Week! Our classmates had the chance to explore their dreams and discover how they can turn them into reality. It was a week full of creativity, teamwork, and inspiration.
The week began with the children working in three groups to imagine what their future careers might look like. From pilots to nurses, each group brainstormed how their current skills could lead to a dream job. They also discussed the steps needed to get the qualifications required, including the importance of university.
The highlight of the week was a visit to the prestigious Southampton University, where the children experienced a real lecture hall and explored the campus. They were amazed by the size of the gym and food hall, though they were a bit shocked by the amount of homework university students have to do!
On the big day, the children wore graduation gowns and mortarboards, and they presented their ideas to a lecture theatre full of parents. Each group shared their vision for the future and the steps they would take to achieve their dreams. Mrs Harley was so proud of their hard work and impeccable behaviour throughout the whole week.
It was inspiring to hear the pupils' aspirations. With more university courses available than ever before, we thought there might even be a degree for aspiring YouTubers! This week reminded us all of the importance of dreaming big and working hard.
We can’t wait to see where their futures take them!
