Pupil Chaplain Retreat:
Called to Serve, Chosen to Shine – Pupil Chaplain Retreat
Our wonderful Pupil Chaplains from Years 4, 5 and 6 enjoyed a special morning of prayer, reflection and faith formation at Holy Family Church, exploring what it truly means to be “Called to Serve, Chosen to Shine.”
Throughout the morning, the children reflected on their important role within our school community and explored the five key values of a Pupil Chaplain: Pray, Listen, Lead, Serve and Inspire. They considered how they can share their faith, show kindness to others and bring the light of Christ into everyday school life.
We were especially blessed to have Father Ephraim lead us in a beautiful Lectio Divina, reflecting on the Gospel passage from Matthew 5:13–16, “Salt and Light.” Through Jesus’ words, “You are the light of the world,” the children were encouraged to think about how they can be a positive influence on others, sharing God’s love through their words, actions and everyday choices.
We also looked to Saint Carlo Acutis as an inspirational example of a young person who lived his faith with joy, courage and love, embodying the very values we hope to nurture in our Pupil Chaplains.
Our retreat concluded with a peaceful time of Eucharistic Adoration, giving the children a precious opportunity to spend quiet, personal time with Jesus.
It was a truly special morning, reminding us that being a Pupil Chaplain is not simply about leading prayers or helping in worship, but about living our faith, serving others and inspiring those around us.
We look forward to seeing our Pupil Chaplains put their faith into action and continue to shine the light of Christ throughout our school community!
