Reading Ambassadors:
Our Reading Ambassadors decided to host a 'Reading Corner' competition in school during December, as part of our 'Christmas Cosy Read' season! They launched the competition in assembly to both teachers and pupils, explaining the purpose of a Reading Corner in the classroom and how it complements our library in school.
Pupils and teachers were tasked to refresh their reading corners for our Reading Ambassadors to judge. Our pupil librarians visited each classroom and filled out their judging sheet, to help select their winner. They thought about the book choices in each corner, ensuring there was a range of fiction and non-fiction, as well as links to current, old and new topics. They looked at the 'cosiness' of the reading corner, how practical/easy to use it is and how 'relaxing' it feels. They also looked at the signage in the reading corner and the amount of input each class and the pupils had had into designing it!
Congratulations to the winning class - 3P- that have received a £25 Waterstones voucher to choose some more books for their reading corner! Our Reading Ambassadors work very hard to promote a love of reading and a reading for pleasure culture in our school - they are certainly living our mission to become architects of a better world through promoting literacy to all.
