Pip and Pap Workshop

Pupils in Year R enjoyed their very first "Parent and Child" workshop together today, looking at Orange Phase Book 1 "Pip and Pap!" 

They read the book with their parents, after the children taught their parents the grapheme-phoneme correspondences that they had been learning - /s/ /a/ /t/ /p/ /i/ /n/ /m/ and /d/. 

They started to blend words such as "Pip" and "Pap", as well as look at the Earth Words 'no', 'I' and 'go'! Earth Words are words we cannot sound out in full ... yet! 

In the book, Pip and Pap have some trouble with the traffic lights! Year R pupils and parents made their own traffic lights together as part of the session - aren't they fab? Then, they talked together about the importance of road safety.
