Year 1 blog:

Year 1 have had an amazing start to the new term! Believe it or not, but something even more exciting happened in our classrooms. Evil Pea was on the loose and he attacked some of the vegetables in our school. That Evil Pea stuck Carrot to the wall with tape and he wrapped poor Cucumber in toilet paper. Luckily, Supertato came to the rescue and he saved the superhero vegetables. However, we all decided that we needed more superhero vegetables to help Supertato save the day so we created our own superhero vegetables. We can't wait to start writing about our own superhero vegetables. 

In Maths, we have been working very hard on counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. We have been solving times tables sums and our teachers have been very impressed with our times tables knowledge. We have been using different strategies such as using our hoops and dots, skip counting and repeated addition to help us solve these sums. 

In Science, we have been learning about the different parts of a tree. We went on a fun nature walk and we identified the different types of trees in our school playground. As well as this, we have been learning about the difference between wild plants and garden plants. 

In History, we have been learning about The Wright Brothers. We have found it fascinating to learn that the brothers Orville and Wilbur invented the first flight. It has also been interesting to see how planes have improved over time.
