Year 5 blog:
Christmas Celebration
Year 5 thoroughly enjoyed sharing some of our favourite Christmas songs with our parents and loved-ones last week. From Calypso Carol to Walking in a Winter Wonderland, Oh Come All Ye Faithful to No Room at the Inn, these Christmas Carols really got us into the festive spirit - thank you to all of those who were able to attend.
Having finished the carolling, the children were also excited to share and display some of the fantastic learning they have been doing this term. On our Art stand, the children had some splendid single-colour portraits they had produced on show as well as the opportunity for parents to have a go themselves. In writing, we have been exploring the ocean and the potential problems they face in the modern world and Year 5 were thrilled to be given the chance to present their persuasive speeches about Life Below the Water. During enrichment days, we have been developing our coding skills (with the help of Mrs Jacob) in computing lessons and were proud to demonstrate everything we have learnt so far this year. History has been a firm favourite with many children, with an enormous amount of knowledge to share and discuss, including The War of the Roses and the reign of Elizabeth I. There were plenty of other examples of terrific achievements across the curriculum on show, including in maths and science. Again, many many thanks to those of you who were able to attend and make this afternoon such a celebration for all the children.
