Reading Comprehension Parent Workshop:

Our Reading Comprehension workshop was delivered to parents last week, explaining how we teach comprehension skills and how we support pupils to understand the texts they are reading.

Within the session, we discussed what reading lessons look like at Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, the different 'skills' that are required to comprehend a text and strategies to support children at home with understanding their reading. We also considered KS1 and KS2 statutory testing materials and considered the 'Expected Standard' for pupils at age 7 and age 11, exploring how reading comprehension is assessed.

If you were unable to attend the live session, the powerpoint used in the presentation is attached below. Please feel free to ask your child's class teacher if you have any questions.
